US hoping to avoid military action against Iran by Zuzana Zelenakova

According to the US Defense Secretary Robert Gates there are other ways how to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon. He believes that US and international sanctions imposed on Iran will soon meet their goal. It is just a mater of time that the results become evident. Robert Gates´s reaction was a response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu´s urging to use a military force in order to ensure that Iran will not get their hands on a nuclear weapon. Israeli Prime Minister told so US Vice President Joe Biden Sunday in New Orleans. He was visiting for the summit of Jewish organizations. "The only way to ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons is by! creating a credible threat of military action against it if it does not halt its race to acquire a nuclear bomb," the anonymous senior official quoted Netanyahu. So far, the Obama administration has tried to stick with a policy of sanctions and diplomacy when handling this delicate mater, putting military option aside. Although sanctions imposed on Iran are important, they most likely not sufficient to achieve the goal, as the spokesman of Israeli Prime Minister, Mark Regev, said. "Sanctions are important. They are increasing pressure on Iran. But so far there has not been any change in the behavior of Iran and upgrading of international pressure is necessary," he quoted Banjamin Netanyahu. US weapons inspectors accused Iran of building a nuclear weapon back in February. It was the first direct accusation. "Iran has not provided the necessary co-operation to permit the agency to confirm that all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities," said the report issued by! the International Atomic Energy Agency. The credit for more ! decisive and resolute IAEA policy went to Yukiya Amano, who replaced Egyptian Mohamed ElBaradei as a head of the agency.

TomTom acquires Tele Atlas by Ana Maria Ciobanu

The Dutch navigation system, TomTom announced on Monday that it intends to acquire it's main digital map dealer Tele Atlas for two billion euros.TomTom is the world's largest maker of car navigation devices and for Tele Atlas this deal will mean more market share in the US.People say and I've seen it for myself, that if in Europe you make 3-4 right turns you are totally lost, while in New York or other American cities you are in the same spot.Marina Wyatt, financial executive at TomTom, declared an offer of 21,25 euro for each Tele Atlas stock, will be launched soon.The acquisition will ve financed by contracting credits but also cash.Tele Atlas offers maps and data for several digital cartography sites, including Google and Mapquest, and also produces navigation systems for some telephone producers, like Nokia for example.The chief executive at TomTom, Harold Goddijn, said that Tele Atlas will continue to offer maps for the TomTom navigation systems and for the other clients to.The navigation systems producer obtained in the second trimester a net profit of 68 million euros, compared to 38 million euros obtained in the same period an year before.TomTom sales have grown with 37 percent, up to 380 million euros.I think we will soon see TomTom and Tele Atlas taking over the US market because these are the kind of companies very attentive with details and customers, that personalize their services, offer quality services and know what success needs and means.

We're almost there, now the technology has surpassed the most of us, existing on the market many devices or gadgets making our life much easier.Professor Joy Laskar from Georgia Tech University and other scientists at the Georgia Electronic Design Center developed extremely high radio frequencies to transfer huge data files over short distances.The frequencies are using a 60 gigahertz band and it is hoped to turn in to a conventional wireless way to zap data over short distances, soon being a rival for other wireless technologies.Toshiba introduced in its laptops last month built-in UWB chips that can communicate wirelessly with a docking station and also can transmit high-definition videos.M. Kursat Kimyacioglu, director of strategy and wireless business development at the semiconductor subsidiary of Philips Electronics NV said: "There will be a constant pressure for speed and it will never cease. We need much faster wireless data networking technologies to make much faster downloads and back-ups and higher resolution HD video streaming possible."Phillips is currently trying to develop a technology to eliminate cable bundles, but research is still needed.Laskar and his team already succeeded in wireless data-transfer rates with 15 gigabits per second from a span of 1 meter."We don't want to replace these guys," says Laskar, pointing at an HD receiver and TV set. "We want to complement them."
